Lana Encheff is a commercial litigator. She litigates contract, lending, real estate, fraud, and other business disputes. She has represented the nation’s largest servicers of securitized commercial mortgages in foreclosure, receivership, and lender liability matters involving residential projects and hotels. She also has experience litigating insurance bad faith and landlord/tenant disputes. 

Lana was formerly an associate in the Irvine office of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, where she represented banks, mortgage companies, and other financial institutions in defending financial services litigation. She has defeated lender liability claims and sham guaranty defenses in numerous cases. She has also represented special servicers in obtaining multi-million dollar deficiency judgments against guarantors. She was counsel for California Bank & Trust in the reported decision California Bank & Trust v. David Lawlor, et al., 222 Cal.App.4th 625 (2013), which defeated the borrowers’ and guarantors’ "sham guaranty" defenses in a case where California Bank & Trust obtained a deficiency judgement. She also represented a bank in cases in California and three other states, where she was admitted pro hac vice, in pursuing orders for judicial foreclosure and defending lender liability claims in connection with mortgages on several hotels. 

Lana received her law degree from Vanderbilt University, where she served on the Executive Board of Editors for the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law. She received degrees in public relations and political science from the University of Southern California.

Random facts: Lana was a member of her high school boy’s water polo team. She went on to play on scholarship for USC Women’s Water Polo Team.

What she does in her spare time: Lana enjoys trail running, swimming, hiking, and spending time with her family.

How she pays it forward: Lana regularly volunteers at Irvine Unified School District schools. She served as lead “room parent” for several years, co-chaired her local elementary school’s Jog-a-Thon fundraiser, volunteered with the after-school running club, and volunteers weekly in classrooms. She is also an active volunteer with Cub Scouts.
